Goofy Girls

It seems like the kids have done a series of silly things so I thought I'd share....

Popcorn is definitely the goofiest of the bunch. She's always doing something wacky or being silly. Whenever I take a picture of her she wants one with her being happy so she'll smile, then one sad and she'll frown and one where she makes her 'angry' face.

Here she is 'skating' around the house. Her 'skates' are actually Build-A-Bear skateboards for their dolls. She is conscious of her safety and decided to wear the Princess helmet. I think she found L's drink from Sonic and decided to sip on it as she made the loop. Good times.

Here is Sweetie and her blue lips from her ring pop. I don't know where she came across a ring pop but at any rate she decided to ham it up and posed for the pic while wearing L's gross old Mariner's hat.
Popcorn once again wearing the helmet while she's climbing our bed. Where she thought she was going I don't know.
Popcorn also ate salad for breakfast the other day. I think it's great (if not a little odd) for a kid to love salad but at 9am she decided she wanted a bowl. At least it's healthy.
She also fell asleep wearing her sun glasses (2 nights in a row). I went in there and she was snoring away wearing her Dora shades. It was funny.
Cutie Pie is too little to be goofy just yet but here she is with her big smile. I used to call it her 'gummy smile' because she showed her gums but now that her 2 bottom teeth are coming in maybe I'll have to call it something else. Anyway, I thought it was cute.

We hope everyone has a Happy New Year!

Christmas Fun

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Here's a couple pictures of the kids....

7 months

Cutie Pie is now 7 months old! She's on the verge of crawling, should be any day now. Lack of crawling doesn't mean she stays in one place though- she gets up on her hands and knees and flops forward then gets up again and flops. It's pretty entertaining.

Cutie Pie is also getting her bottom 2 teeth. Since the biter biscuits basically dissolve thus causing a sticky mess (and Popcorn devourers them) we've moved on to zwieback toast. This way she can teethe on it and stay entertained without constantly needing a bath, and no one else seems to find the toast very tasty!

Christmas parade

The girls got to ride in the Christmas parade in Robinson last night. They rode with Angela's Dance (where they take lessons). Below is a picture of Popcorn and Sweetie with their friend M. I got some candy and Santa hats at the dollar store and they had a great time. Sweetie listed all the friends she saw from school and told me how she said 'Merry Christmas' and threw candy. Luckily the weather was cold and clear, we didn't think they were going to get to ride after the wet weather on Wed. So much fun!

Here's Cutie Pie wearing a Santa hat when the girls were playing outside after school. She was quite interested in the puff ball on the end of the hat.

Christmas decorating (and eating things off the tree)

Here's a picture of our tree. I know it's blurry but with the flash it just doesn't look as pretty.

All this decorating brought back some fun memories...

Growing up we always decorated our tree with red bows and cookies. Every year we made different kinds and one year we even made little bears out of marshmallows dipped in brown sugar. We (I think my sister did this too) would eat the goodies off the tree and blame it on our little brother. What I find funny about this now is that at the time I really thought I was getting away with something. Like my mom didn't figure us out, I'm sure she was just laughing and laughing. I don't remember really getting in trouble over eating the decorations, I guess that was part of the fun.

The Christmas we spent in California Sweetie was 3 1/2. I was decorating with the usual bows, glass balls and candy canes. She liked to help me decorate by putting on the candy canes. I'm sure somewhere along the way I told her she could eat the broken ones because one by one the candy canes disappeared from the tree and I would find her eating them because they had mysteriously broken. That was the last year I put candy canes on the tree.

The Christmas we spent in Pennsylvania Popcorn was 18 months. I found her behind the tree chewing on something, red all around her mouth. Then I saw the broken glass ball on the ground next to her. She was eating it like an apple. As I was on the phone with poison control I felt like the most neglectful, awful mom. Who lets their kids eat glass ornaments? Apparently I'm not alone because the guy kind of laughed and said that they get a lot of calls about this and as long as it went down okay it would come out okay. That was the last year I used glass balls, I switched to the shatterproof plastic. They still look nice and so far no one has turned it into a snack.

I'm sure Cutie Pie will cause her own kind of trouble, I'm not sure what there is left to eat off the tree but maybe I'll start using cookies so they will have a little something to nibble on!

Feeling crafty

I finally finished my advent calendar. I re-did the title a couple times and it took me a long time to decide which paper to use for the pattern, but I think I finally like the end result. It's actually a magnetic board with little tins on it. In each tin there are things to do, like drive around and look at Christmas lights or make a card for someone, sing a Christmas song, etc. I think it will be fun.

I haven't done a craft project for a long time and I realized why...I make a BIG mess and it gets left out for several days because I never have a good chunk of time to complete it.

Dance class

I finally signed the girls up for dance classes and they are loving it. They get to do tap, ballet and gymnastics. I think Sweetie has inherited my lack of coordination for tumbling and all things gymnastic related. I practiced and practiced and could never really do a good cartwheel. I hope they will do better.

Here is Popcorn sporting a new hairstyle (and a bang trim- I couldn't see her eyes). She actually let me put her hair up and loved it when she saw herself in the mirror. Right after class she made me take it out but it was great while it lasted.

Here is Sweetie showing off what she did in class. Beautiful ballerina!
